FIFTEEN SECONDS - Yes, Lewis Smith scored just fifteen seconds from the end against East Thurrock. It doesn’t matter when they go in, providing they go in.
REDS - We have had six red cards this season, The net result was one draw and five defeats. And five players have been sent off in matches against us, two in the same match – all these matches resulted in wins for the Urchins. Enough said.
ATTENDANCES - We had a gate of 357 for the East Thurrock match, which is a 34 percent increase on our previous Saturday attendance. Hopefully this trend will continue.
A REAL CONTRAST - after the luxurious surroundings at Grimsby, we were brought back to earth somewhat when we went to Bury, which can best be described as a very basic ground. Whilst Grimsby had 9,600 seats, at Bury there were just one hundred, in a very old wooden stand. But Bury had a couple of plus points when compared to Grimsby – certainly not the pitch, which was badly affected by heavy rain the previous day, but Bury had a massive car park, as opposed to the street parking at Grimsby, and the Bury programme was a credit to any club, and vastly superior to the one we had in Lincolnshire.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH – We are delighted to announce that all remaining matches have now been sponsored. Ann Hodgkinson sponsored the East Thurrock match, and she named Joe Anderson. Today’s match against Hastings is sponsored by Anthony Whittaker, who is also known as Wivenhoe Urchin.

THE NEW STRIP – Our supplier has managed to track down some of the purple strip – it appears that they are very difficult to get - and we hope to have them on sale at the Margate game. The price will be £25 for adult sizes and £20 for junior sizes. If anyone wants the home (red and white strip), these will have to be ordered individually, as they are much more expensive. But the good news is that the home strip will come with shorts as well as shirts. The price is / will be £35 for adults and £28 for juniors. The strip will be on sale in the club shop, to the rear of the main Eastside stand, and right next to the boardroom.
HISTORY OF HORNCHURCH FC – We have so far handed over £800 to the football club, and there are now only a few books available, priced at £10 each – and remember – every single penny goes to the club. So, when you buy one, you are effectively donating £10 to the club.
PAY FOR A PLAYER – The idea is simple – we want as many people as possible to commit to a certain amount – you choose how much, and it can be as little as £1 per week. We have already had a one-off donation of £150, and a pledge for £50 per month. The more you can pledge, the more it helps the club. Please speak to Rob Burgess for more details.
