Next Urchins game is this Saturday (13th Feb.) at HOME to Margate, k.o. 3pm
Saturday 6th February
Cray Wanderers 1 AFC Hornchurch 0
A 13th minute penalty conversion by Wanderers Colin Luckett was enough to secure all three points for the hosts and enflict the first League defeat on the Urchins in almost three months! The lads will want to quickly put this one behind them with several crucial 'six pointers' appearing on the horizon - the first being our home game versus Margate next Saturday. It should be a very keenly fought contest.

Monday 1st February
Aveley 3 AFC Hornchurch 1
The Millers had their revenge for their recent RPL defeat by the Urchins by ending their involvement in this seasons League Cup competition. After the hosts took an early lead Soz Yao hit back for the Urchins in the 82nd mintute to force extra time. However, two more goals for the Millers in the first period of extra time was enough to see them through to the next round.

Saturday 30th January
AFC Hornchurch 2 Carshalton Athletic 2
In a very entertaining game the Urchins made it three draws in a row as each side again claimed one point. Despite Urchins flying start (2-0 up inside 15 minutes) the Robins always looked dangerous on the break. Following a robust challenge in the 84th minute Ben Boyce was sadly helped from the pitch with what looked like a serious ankle injury. We hope it is not as serious as it looked and Ben is ok. Urchins now move on to a very important League Cup Fourth Round tie at Aveley in just two days time.

Tuesday 26th January
AFC Hornchurch 0 Billericay Town 0
On a bitterly cold evening it seemed that both teams cancelled each other out in every department. So whilst both sides had a few reasonable chances to score it was no real surprise that the game ended in stalemate. Both teams take a point and we move on to our next encounter, at HOME to Carshalton Athletic this coming Saturday.

Sunday 24th January
Young Urchins Through to Quarter Finals
This afternoon our U18s scored an impressive 5-1 victory away at Halstead Town to move into the Quarter Finals of the Essex Cup. We will be at HOME to Redbridge in two weeks time (sun. 31st Jan.) in our Quarter Final tie. Congratulations to Larry and the lads!

Sunday 24th January
Wellcome Back Ross!
We extend a warm welcome to Ross Wall who we believe has re-joined the Club. Ross is a very talented striker and its great to have him back at Bridge Avenue. Nice one Ross!

Tuesday 19th January
Waltham Abbey 0 AFC Hornchurch 1
A 64th minute goal from Jo Flack was enough to see the Urchis through to the Semi-Finals of the Essex Senior Cup. In a closely fought game both teams battled well putting on a good show under difficult playing conditions. The game could have gone either way but it was the Urchins who move on to the Semis where we will be at HOME to either Chelmsford City or Aveley, with the game to be played by 27th February.

Saturday 16th January
AFC Hornchurch 3 Bognor Regis Town 0
The Urchins sent their fans home happy this evening as they treated them to their best League home performance of the Season to date. Bognor also played their part in a most entertaining game, belying their League position - and on today's performance they must surely climb to safety very soon. It was a great performance by the lads who played superbly well on a very heavy pitch. Today's valuable three points lifts us to 8th - believe it or not, just two points off a play-off place! Saturday 2nd January
AFC Hornchurch 2 Aveley 1
The Urchins showed great determination today and fought hard against a skillful Aveley to earn all three points. In doing so they leapfrogged their visitors climbing to 12th placein the League Table. Jo Flack opened the scoring for the Urchins; but after a Millers equaliser it was left to Jonathan Hunt's penalty conversion to seal the victory. Click for Jo Flack's view of the game. Our next game is away to Waltham Abbey on 5th January in our Essex Senior Cup Quarter Final.

Saturday 26th December
Aveley 1 AFC Hornchurch 1
The honours were even at Mill Field today thanks to a last gasp penalty conversion by Jonathan Hunt. Both sides found it difficult, at times, to produce flowing football on a very heavy pitch. However, after the weather we have had over the past week or so we should be thankful that the game took place at all - and in the end a draw proved a fair result. Click for Jonathan Hunt's view of the game. We now look forward to two home games next week - Billericay Town on Tuesday evening followed by Aveley next Saturday.

Tuesday 15th December
AFC Hornchurch 3 Harlow Town 0
The Urchins always had the measure of a very spirited Harlow and another solid performance in the bitter cold saw them progress to the Fourth Round of the Isthmian League Cup. Our opponents will be known after the draw takes place tomorrow.

Congratulations to Larry Pattison and the Urchins U18s who secured a place in the Fourth Round of the Essex Cup with an inpressive 6-2 victory away to Heybridge Swifts.

Saturday 12th December
Ashford Town 1 AFC Hornchurch 1
Ashford always provide stiff opposition and today was no exception. In a closely fought game at Short Lane it was Jamie Dormer who grabbed a 73rd minute equaliser after Warren Harris had given the hosts a second half lead. Both teams will be happy with a point although the Urchins, who finished strongly, may have wished for all three. We now move on to League Cup action this coming Tuesday when we entertain Harlow Town in our home Third Round tie, k.o. 7.45pm.

Wednesday 9th December
Urchins Away in County Cup Quarter Finals
The Urchins will travel to either Waltham Abbey or Bowers & Pitsea in the Quarter Finals of the Essex Senior Cup. These teams meet on Tuesday 15th December to decide who will host the Urchins in the next round. Quarter Final ties are to be played on or before 9th January 2010.

Saturday 5th December
AFC Hornchurch 1 Sutton United 0
A spectacular Wayne Gray goal in the 68th minute was enough to earn the Urchins another valuable three League points. On the balance of play the lads certainly deserved their victory but fans will remember Wayne's goal long after the match is forgotten. Check the video clips section as it is well worth a look. Kingstonian are the visitors to Bridge Avenue on Tuesday evening where we hope the positive momentum will continue.

Tuesday 1st December

The Urchins put in another superb all-round performance, crowned by FOUR goal hero Wayne Gray, to ease past a hard-working East Thurrock and earned themselves a place in the Essex Senior Cup Quarter Final draw. The draw for the next round will take place soon and news of our opponents will be posted shortly.

Urchins Named 'Team of the Month'
AFC Hornchurch have been awarded Vandanel 'Team Performance of the Month' for their magnificent performance at Princes Park last Saturday where they were responsible for Dartford's first League defeat of the season. Well done lads! Confidence in the camp must be sky high now be sky high as we look forward to our next game at home to Sutton United this coming Saturday.

Saturday 28th November
Daftford 0 AFC Hornchurch 1
The Urchins turned the form book up side down as they came away from Princes Park with three most valuable League points - and in the process inflicted the Darts first League defeat of the season. Billy Coyne was the goal hero - but the whole team were heroes as they defied the bookies odds to claim what could turn out to be a most important victory. Today's result will boost the lads confidence as they move on to Tuesday's Essex Senior Cup tie away to East Thurrock United.

Tuesday 24th November
AFC Hornchurch 1 Chelmsford City 2
Despite another late rally the Urchins bowed out of this season's FA Trophy competition. The lads battled hard and it was a testament to their efforts that the Clarets bench were screaming at the Referee to blow the final whistle whilst the Urchins pressed for that elusive equaliser. Congratulations to Chelmsford - we wish you luck in the next round.

Saturday 21st November
Chelmsford City 4 AFC Hornchurch 4
The Clarets must have thought they had the game wrapped up when they went in at half time 3-1 to the good. However, they did not reckon on the spirit and passion of the battling Urchins! The lads clawed their way back into the game with three second half goals earning them a well deserved replay at Bridge Avenue next Tuesday evening. The Urchins were even denied a spectacular 5-4 victory by the Clarets crossbar! The draw for the First Round Proper takes place on Monday so the opponents for the winners of Tuesday's replay will be known before the game takes place.

Tuesday 17th November
AFC Hornchurch 2 Brentwood Town 1
A Third Round HOME tie vs Harlow Town is the reward for tonight's 2-1 League Cup victory against Brentwood. In a game where both teams seemed to cancel each other out the result was in doubt right to the final whistle. Brentwood battled hard but Duane Jackman's 87th minute winner took the Urchins into the next round.

Also please regularly check the 'Suppoerters News' link for the latest info on organised events and important supporters stuff.

Saturday 14th November
Hastings United 1 AFC Hornchurch 0
A 47th minute Russell Eldridge goal secured all three points for the hosts in a game which was played in monsoon conditions. The gale force winds and heavy rain prevented the teams from taking advantage of the excellent playing surface and the game became a lottery - a lottery which sadly the Urchins lost. The quest for League points must now be put on hold as we entertain Brentwood Town on Tuesday evening in our Second Round Leage Cup tie and then next Saturday it's off to face Chelmsford City in the Third Qualifying Round of the F.A. Trophy.

Saturday 7th November
AFC Hornchurch 4 Hendon 4
In a game which saw the Urchins surrender a two goal lead twice the final tally was four goals apiece and honours even. Certainly a good game for the neutrals but Hornchurh will be disappointed at not claiming all three points. Amongst the positives is that the lads have found their goal scoring boots and have stretched their unbeated run to seven games. We now move on to our re-arranged Essex Senior Cup tie vs Waltham Forest to be played next Wednesday evening.

Tuesday 3rd November
AFC Hornchurch 4 Whyteleafe 0
A very solid performance against a competitive and well-organised Whyteleafe saw the Urchins move into the Third Qualifying Round of the F.A. Trophy. The Urchins are away to Chelmsford City in the next Round with the game to be played on Saturday 21st November.

Saturday 31st October
Whyteleafe 1 AFC Hornchurch 1
A Jo Flack goal midway through the second half earned the Urchins a replay in this FA Tropthy Second Qualifying Round tie after the hosts had taken a 12 minute lead. It was a very evenly contested game played at one of the most attractive non-league grounds in the country. Our players, staff and supporters were made most welcome by their very hospitable hosts which contributed to a very enjoyable day. It will be our turn to play hosts on Tuesday evening as we welcome Whyteleafe to the Bridge for the Replay, k.o. 7.45pm.

Wednesday 28th October
Waltham Forest v AFC Hornchurch - Ma tch Abandoned
Our Third Round Essex Senior Cup tie was abandoned after just seven minutes and 50 seconds following a serious injury to a home player. The player concerned fell awkwardly, whilst making a tackle on Wayne Gray, which appears to have resulted in a serious ankle injury. The player could not be moved and an ambulance was called. After a 20 minute delay the game was called off. The date for the replay will be advised as soon as it is known. We wish the injured player a full and speedy recovery.

Tuesday 27th October
Jamie Dormer Joins the Urchins
The Club are delighted to announce the signing of ex-Billericay Captain Jamie Dormer. Jamie, who lives locally, joins an Urchins squad brimming with confidence after recent performances and will be a valuable asset in our quest to climb the Table. Welcome to the Bridge Jamie!

Saturday 24th October
Waltham Abbey 0 AFC Hornchurch 5
The Urchins turned on the style today as they hit five goals past a lacklustre Waltham Abbey to earn three very valuable League points. Everyone played their part in a true team performance. Confidence and belief in the camp must now be sky high with the future looking brighter than it has all season. We now look forward to next Wednesday's Essex Senior Cup tie against Waltham Forest and then on to next Saturday's F.A. Trophy game away to Whyteleafe. Well done Urchins!

AFC Hornchurch 0 Wealdstone 0
Tonight's game was totally dominated by the Urchins from start to finish. The passion and commitment from the lads was superb as they treated the fans to some real football. So many goal chances were created with so many near misses. It was just one of those nights. The lads will never play so well again and not win. It was that good! Thanks to Wealdstone for playing their part in a great game and for their many fans who made the trip to Bridge Avenue.

Saturday 17th October

The Urchins secured their place in Monday's Second Qualifying Round F.A. Trophy draw after scoring all three goals at Bridge Avenue this afternoon. Brentwood showed great determination and until Paul Shave's 76 minute strike it looked like a replay might be necessary to separate the teams. On balance the Urchins deserved their victory but they know they have been in a fight. We now return to RPL action this Tuesday evening when we are at HOME to Wealdstone, k.o. 7.45pm.

New Players at the Bridge
Colin has been very busy and made four quality signings! We welcome Jo Flack from Billericay Town, Duane Jackman from Bishop's Stortford, Ben Boyce from East Thurrock and Reece Prestedge from Leyton. The fans will get their first opportunity to welcome our new players at tomorrow's F.A. Trophy game vs Brentwood Town, k.o. 3pm.

Tuesday 13th October
AFC Hornchurch 5 Welling United 1
The Urchins gave their fans hope that the tide is turning as they put in what many considered to be their best performance of the season so far. The Wings gave our lads a tremendous workout and have no doubt helped to restore confidence and belief before this coming Saturday's important F.A. Trophy game. We thank them for their visit and wish them well for the rest of the season.

Friendly vs Welling Next Tuesday
Our good friends Welling United from Conference South will visit Bridge Avenue next Tuesday (13th Oct.) for what should be a very entertaining friendly. The Wings always put on a good show which seems to bring out the best in the Urchins - many may remember our thrilling F.A. Cup encounter of three years ago. Kick-off will be at 745pm with the same price structure as for the cancelled Stortford game (£4.00 for adults and everyone else free).

Wednesday 7th October
Bishop's Stortford Friendly is OFF!
Sadly Bishop's Stortford have pulled out of Saturday's friendly and at such short notice no opponents can be found so it will be a blank Saturday.

Good news (hopefully) for next Tuesday. If Welling United are not involved in a replay they will visit Bridge Avenue for a friendly. Kick-off would be 7.45pm with the same price structure as for the cancelled Stortford game (£4.00 for adults and everyone else free). We will confirm this Saturday.

Saturday 3rd October
Carshalton Athletic 1 AFC Hornchurch 0
A questionable 50th minute penalty awarded to the home side and converted by Craig Falconbridge was enough to deny the Urchins the point they richly deserved. AFCH Played some of their best football of the season dominating large parts of the game but their efforts went unrewarded. The signs of recovery are there. All we need is our fair share of luck which seems to have deserted us at the moment.

As our RPL home game versus Wealdstone on Saturday 10th October has been cancelled and moved to Tuesday 20th Colin has arranged a friendly at Bridge Avenue against Conference South side Bishop's Stortford. Kick-off will be 1 p.m. NOT 3 p.m. and admission will be £4.00 for adults. Concessions & U16's, as well as Season Ticket holders, will have free admission.
Colin is also trying to arrange another friendly for Tuesday 13th. News will be posted as soon as the details are finalised.

Tuesday 29th September
AFC Hornchurch 5 Romford 1
Bragging rights went to the Urchins in this very entertaining and competitive friendly which proved an excellent workout for both sides. Saturday 26th September
Margate 0 AFC Hornchurch 0
In a game which neither team could afford to lose probably a hard-fought draw was the predictable result. However, the Urchins can take a lot of positives from the game - not least for keeping a clean sheet for the first time in seven starts. The home side may feel they should have claimed all three points following their second-half penalty miss - albeit a dubiously awarded penalty in the first place. We now move on at our next game - an intriguing friendly on Tuesday evening at home to our good friends and close rivals ROMFORD FC from Ryman North.

Tuesday 22nd September
AFC Hornchurch 0 Cray Wanderers 2
Sadly the lads were unable to build on last Saturday's superb performance and two second half goals secured all three points for the visitors. Saturday 19th September
AFC Hornchurch 2 Harrow Borough 1
The Urchins bounced back with their best home display of the season and treated their fans to some supperb football. The scoreline does not reflect their dominance as they controlled the game for long periods. The three well-earned points lifts us back into a mid-table position and three more in Tuesday's home game against Cray Wanderers could even see us challenging for a play-off place!

Great Start for Young Urchins
Both Urchins teams recorded victories in their first League game of the season. The U18's secured an impressive 4-2 win against Ilford and the U15's scored a 2-1 win over East Thurrock. Well done to both teams. This follows on from last week's U18's 3-0 victory versus Stevenage Borough in the Preliminary Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Saturday 12th September
AFC Hornchurch 0 Billericay Town 3
Sadly the Urchins fell at their first hurdle in this season's FA Cup competition. The visitors were worthy winners and looked sharper and quicker than their hosts. With the game goal-less at the interval the second half proved decisive with 'Ricay netting three times to move into the next Round.

The luckless Uchins battled hard but went down to their third successive RPL defeat at Nyewood Lane today. Whilst there is still much to do on and off the pitch it is not time to panic. Only three points separate 8th and 20th in the League so a few good wins should see us climb out of the danger area. It is the time, however, for all fans to get behind the team and help lift the lads with some encouraging vocal support. Our next game is a very important F.A. Cup tie at home to Billericay Town next Saturday. Please come along and make it a game to remember.

Sutton United 4 AFC Hornchurch 1
The Urchins found themselves 2-0 down within 10 minutes of the start and when an unfortunate own-goal made it 3-0 to the hosts there was little chance of salvaging anything from the game. The lads showed more spirit in the second half but the damage had already been done. We have little time to lick our wounds as we entertain League leaders Dartford on Monday, k.o. 3pm. Our visitors will bring a healthy following so the boys will need all your support if we are to secure all three points.

We entertain Boreham Wood this Tuesday evening in our first home RPL fixture of the season. Please come along and give the lads your support.

Tuesday 28th July

This thoroughly entertaining game proved an excellent workout for both sides with a draw being a good reflection of the game. On tonight's performance the signs for the Urchins are very encouraging as they played some excellent football. Saturday 18th July

Colin used today's first run out to test no less than 19 players. The lads performed well and everyone seemed pleased to put the uncertainly of the past few months behind them and to get back on the pitch. One thing is for sure - the Urchins will be ready for the fight when the Season starts on the 15th of August.
